14 DAY SELF-LOVE CHALLENGE

Self-love simply means to fully accept your true, natural self in regard for one’s own well-being and happiness. It motivates you to make healthy choices in life because when you hold yourself in high esteem, you’re more likely to make choices that serve you well. Self-love is not selfish, rude, or self-seeking. It is in fact fulfilling, empowering, and necessary.

This month’s focus is all about self-love and we challenge you to participate in our 14 Day Self-Love Challenge leading up to Valentine’s day. Whether you have a significant other or not, remember that love starts from within and you must love yourself first before you can share it with others. Please be gentle with yourself and understand that this doesn’t happen overnight and it’s a journey to be cherished.

DAY 1. CREATE POSITIVE MANTRAS FOR YOURSELF. Write 3 things you love about yourself. Turn them into positive affirmations & recite them to yourself every morning or before you go to bed.

DAY 2. PAMPER YOURSELF AS YOU UNWIND. Take all the steps in your skincare routine. Run a bath. Drink a glass of wine.

DAY 3. DRINK. MORE. WATER. You’re basically a houseplant with more complicated emotions.

DAY 4. FOLLOW A GUIDED MEDITATION OR HAVE A STRETCH SESSION. Light a candle. Turn off your light. Turn off your phone. Clear your mind for a hot sec and breathe.

DAY 5. UNPLUG FROM YOUR PHONE AFTER 5PM. Allow yourself a digital detox.

DAY 6. BUY YOURSELF FLOWERS & WATCH THEM BLOOM. Stop depending on lovers to love us the way we should love ourselves.

DAY 7. WATCH YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE OR CATCH UP ON A TV SHOW. Let’s stay home tonight.

DAY 8. DATE NIGHT FOR ONE. Cook your favorite meal just for yourself at home or take yourself out to your go-to spot for a little 1-on-1 with yourself.

DAY 9. GO TO SLEEP AN HOUR EARLIER. Invest in rest.

DAY 10. DRESS UP FOR YOURSELF. WEAR YOUR FAVORITE OUTFIT. Stop waiting for an occasion to wear that outfit. Wear it now.

DAY 11. MOVE MONEY INTO YOUR SAVINGS. Instead of purchasing an item you might regret, put money into your savings.

DAY 12. CALL THAT ONE FRIEND YOU’VE BEEN MEANING TO CALL. Catch up with the person who makes you smile.

DAY 13. INDULGE IN A FAVORITE TREAT. It’s always a good idea.

DAY 14. GIVE YOURSELF CREDIT. Thank yourself for all the time and energy you put in the past 14 days. Self-love doesn’t happen overnight, but what matters is that you’re making a conscious effort for your well-being.


what is body positivity?

Body positivity is the notion that all bodies are equal regardless of how society and popular culture view ideal shape, size, and appearance. It’s a movement started in the 1960’s to encourage people with marginalized bodies to not only practice self-love, but to feel worthy of self-love. 

There’s so many different definitions for what the movement means, but body positivity includes accepting your body in spite of what you may think are “flaws,” loving yourself, accepting your body’s shape and size, and feeling confident about your body in a healthy way. 

More and more people are speaking up and challenging how society views and values our bodies to embrace individuality and inclusivity and we’re all for it!

5 things TO DO WHEN YOU’RE FEELING anxious

Here’s 5 tips to practice to manage your anxiety:

1. RELEASE YOUR ENERGY. If you feel super pumped up like your body is full of adrenaline, you’ll want to release it before you practice calming exercises. Go for a brisk walk outside. Stand up and do 30 jumping jacks. Run up and down the stairs. Whatever activity it may be, remember to BREATHE and be conscious of your breathing. Inhale for 3 seconds, exhale for 3 seconds.

2.PLAY THE 3-3-3 GAME. First, close your eyes and take 3 deep breaths in and out. Open your eyes and look around and name 3 things you can see. Next, name 3 sounds you can hear. Then, move 3 parts of your body you can feel (i.e wiggle your fingers, rotate your ankle, nod your head up and down). End this exercise with 3 more deep breaths in an out. 

3.LISTEN TO SOMETHING. Play that one song that whenever you hear it, you automatically feel calm and content. Maybe it’s a song that brings you back to a beautiful memory or maybe one that helps you visualize a serene picture. On the flip side, play your all-time favorite song that you know all the words to and just sing it out loud from beginning to end. Whatever song it may be, let yourself go and vibe to it.

4.USE ESSENTIAL OILS. Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants that hold amazing benefits when inhaled through a diffuser or put directly on the skin once distilled. Creating your own essential oil rollers that you can bring with you anywhere is perfect for on-the-go. Lavender specifically is known to increase calming and relaxation and you can apply your diluted essential oil rollers on the temples of your head, behind your ears, on wrists, and on the bottom of your feet.

5.REPEAT A CALMING MANTRA. A mantra is a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation. It’s a positive affirmation that is repeated to one-self for the purpose of motivation or encouragement. Find a mantra that resonates with you most and repeat it to yourself while taking deep breaths in between. 

Here’s a few anxiety mantras you may like:

“With every breath, I release the anxiety within me and I become more and more calm.”

“This feeling is only temporary. It will pass.”

“I have enough, I do enough, I am enough.”

“I am safe. I am well. I am going to be all right.”

“Just breathe.”

5 TIPS FOR MAINTAINING A HEALTHY WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Here are some tips to help you maintain a healthy work life balance to avoid burnout. 

1. SET CLEAR BOUNDARIES. Don’t take your work home. Limit time-wasting activities and people. Enjoy weekends and vacations. Unplug from technology that will distract you from work. Embrace the “off” button. 

2. MANAGE YOUR TIME. Make sure you understand your peaks and troughs. If you’re a morning person, assign high-concentration tasks to the mornings and vice versa. Prioritize tasks. Pace yourself. Let go of perfectionism. If you’re so fixated on achieving perfection, you will spend too much time on that and not enough time doing what you actually need to be doing.

3. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY. So you can work efficiently. That means getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising. You want to make sure you’re physically at your best so you can operate at 100%. 

4. WORK ON YOUR MINDSET. Understand it’s okay to take a time-out. It’s okay to ask for help. You need the breaks to reset and reignite the fire. 

5. CREATE A ROUTINE. Build 3 routines: a morning, workday, and nighttime routine that embodies everything we’ve just talked about and stick to it. Developing a daily routine can help us to feel more in control of everything and make room for all that’s important.
